Austin Symphony Orchestra
ASO's mission is to enhance the cultural quality of life for the people of Austin and Central Texas by providing excellence in music performance and educational programming.

ASO education and community engagement initiatives engage students grades Pre-K to 12 with quality music learning through programming that is innovative, meaningful, cross-curricular, multi-sensory and culturally relevant.
Programs:
Building Blocks of the Orchestra (Pre-K - 3rd grade): Chamber groups of professional ASO musicians (brass quintet, woodwind quintet, string quartet, harp percussion) visit elementary schools to perform a tailored, 25-min presentation about the instruments of a symphony orchestra, including how they work, what sounds they make and what it’s like to play them.

Young People’s Concerts (grades 4-5): Students attend a full orchestra performance in Dell Hall at The Long Center for the Performing Arts featuring carefully-crafted programming of symphonic music and narrative that is targeted to the age group, richly cross-curricular, multi-sensory and interactive, supported by robust educational materials and aligned to state teaching objectives.
