Drum One, Drum All - Noah Mosgofian

Educate, Entertain, and Engage minds and bodies with the power of rhythm.

Take a global journey through drum traditions from Africa, South America, the Caribbean, and beyond plus a recycled object orchestra. Students learn body percussion, traditional rhythms, movement, vocabulary, history, and culture.

The drumming traditions of Africa and Latin America embody ancient and powerful tools for personal growth and community building. Drum One, Drum All uses these art forms to teach the following:

  • History, Geography, and Culture: students will learn the cultural context of each musical tradition, the ethnicity of its people, and the history of its instruments. This fosters an appreciation for diversity and for our cultural commonality.

  • Personal skills / SEL: confident self-expression, listening, cooperation, celebrating genuine effort over instant results. Many small and diverse voices unify to create a single rhythmic voice.

  • Mind / Body Engagement: Dance and body percussion challenge students with bilateral movement, balance, pattern recognition, focus, and hand-eye coordination.

  • Drum One is presented by Noah Mosgofian to an assembly of 50-400 students, grades K-12. The program is 30-60 minutes long and is tailored to the age and skill level of the participants.

The program is flexible! Regions and traditions covered can include:

  • West Africa

  • Central Africa

  • Brazil

  • Cuba

  • Colombia

  • USA - found object / recycled orchestra

Additional content, including new regions, rhythmic traditions, and dance/movement modules can be added by request. Let us know what your school is studying so we can incorporate it.
