Improv facilitates learning through an atmosphere of positive purpose, exploring subjects of study in novel & memorable ways. Intentional group activities, turn taking & critical reflection build creative, collaborative experiences & allow learners of all kinds to learn, laugh & explore together.
Tailored to fit each groups’ developmental stage and curriculum needs, our workshops and shows leave students and teachers laughing and supporting one another as they learn. Workshops are 100% interactive, on your feet exercises designed to ease participants into activities that bond the group and gently demonstrate the “Yes, and” principles of our work. Academic and SEL concepts are woven in and emphasized to the degree that individual organization desires.
Performances use audience suggestions and volunteer help to shape original, hilarious stories on the spot. Whether as pure entertainment or as part of a themed unit, our shows are guaranteed to leave audiences smiling and feeling as though they have taken part in creating something entirely their own.
Workshop, performance and residency lengths are based on host’s needs and can range from single visits of 30 minutes to 3 hours, to weekly visits that culminate in public performance when desired.
Engaging, energetic and inspiring, MYT’s workshops and performances empower participants to take creative risks, communicate ideas and practice flexible collaboration. Our performers and instructors are among Austin’s most experienced teaching artists and all perform professionally on a weekly basis. Our work is suitable for all ages and each event is designed for the audience at hand.
MYT's classes and performances are high energy and engaging with a supportive, collaborative structure. In addition to the SEL& creative benefits of improv, our curriculum driven sessions harness the tools of improvisation to explore a range of academic and social topics.
Online Workshops, Single and Multi Visit:
The pandemic's silver lining was a discovery that improv is actually pretty amazing online. Our internet based classes and shows keep participants moving, creating new connections and providing a learning experience that is both hilarious and memorable.
Outdoor and Distanced Classes & Shows:
As with all of our classes, the focus is on creating collaboratively as we build skills and explore ideas. Moving this work to a distanced, outside area gives us the chance to do it at full volume through physically engaging exercises. Masks will not stop our funny!
