Badgerdog
Creative Writing Workshops
Badgerdog’s Creative Writing Program brings professional writers into classrooms to lead weekly creative writing workshops for students in grades 3-12.
Workshops can be tailored to specific writing forms (personal narratives, poetry, expository writing, etc.) or can provide a sampling of different genres. Students encounter and respond to new creative texts; learn new approaches to idea generation; practice a variety of writing skills and techniques; draft, edit, and revise; enjoy performing their work and seeing it published in a professionally printed anthology. To best meet schools’ and teachers’ needs, all our Badgerdog teaching artists work with the classroom teachers to understand students’ skill levels, areas of difficulty, and language arts objectives.
In-school workshops could be scheduled as a one-time topic-focused workshop, or as a three-week, six-week, semester-long, or even year-long series.
