Ballet Austin is committed to offering educators resources and opportunities to provide young people with arts experiences, specifically in dance.

An overview of our programming is listed below. Experiences range from weekly lessons at your campus to one time field trip opportunities:

Leaps and No Bounds (PreK-5th) is a kinesthetic approach to learning academic concepts through weekly movement classes provided all school year long in elementary schools.

Dance in the Classroom (K-3rd) provides weekly pre-ballet classes to K, 1st, and 2nd grade students on school campuses during the school day. The program has expanded to give rising 3rd graders the opportunity to experience a range of dance styles in our summer program. The successful completion of the summer program makes students eligible for a year round scholarship to take Level 1 Ballet through the Ballet Austin Academy.

Snow White School Shows (PreK- 5th)

introduce elementary students to the art of ballet with a 55- minute long retelling of the classic Grimm Brothers’ fairytale in the form of a ballet. Free classroom curricula is included with your registration for Snow White School Shows and each show will be followed by a short Q&A session with the dancers.

  • Offered at Ballet Austin October 11th and available to be performed at your campus or PAC.
  • Additional performances can be scheduled at Ballet Austin if a minimum of 120 students are registered.

The Nutcracker School Shows (K-5th) bring students to the Long Center to see one act of Ballet Austin’s The Nutcracker. Includes an optional pre-show on-campus educational program, the Ballet Austin Docent program.

  • Nutcracker School Shows dates are December 10th-12th
  • Registration opens the first week of September.

Dance Revolutions (K-12th) is a 45-minute educational performance that includes works from multiple dance genres, including ballet, jazz, musical theater, and modern, and also involves the audience using improvisation movement activities. The dances are placed in historical context via interactive discussions throughout the performance.

Dance Classes for Students (K-12th) is a program that allows students to come to Ballet Austin to train with one of Ballet Austin’s professional Butler Dance Education Center Instructors. Classes are available in all levels in a variety of techniques.

  • Class availability is based on instructor and studio availability.

Field Trips to Ballet Austin (K-12th) allow students to see our headquarters, observe a rehearsal or dance class, see ballet costumes and pointe shoes, and gain a better understanding of all the elements that help bring a ballet to the stage.

Teacher Professional Development offers master classes and classroom curricula for public school dance educators in Central Texas and is a Texas Education Agency- approved provider of Continuing Professional Education certification.
